Getting around
Antwerp is flat and compact. Walking and cycling cover most trips from our door.
Velo shared bikes
Velo has over 300 stations across the city. The nearest one sits on Montgomeryplein, 100 m from the apartment.
- Day pass 5 euro. Week pass 12 euro.
- Every ride under 30 minutes comes with the pass. Longer rides cost extra.
- Dock the bike at any station, wait 5 minutes, then take another one.
- Buy a pass in the Velo app with Visa or Mastercard (velo-antwerpen.be).
Tram, premetro and bus
De Lijn runs the trams, buses and premetro. Zegel is our premetro station and De Roma our tram and bus stop, both on the Turnhoutsebaan.

Buy in the De Lijn app, online (delijn.be), at a machine or in a Lijnwinkel. Tapping a contactless bank card on board costs the same 3 euro. Children under 6 travel free with a paying adult.
From Zegel, premetro lines 8 and 10 reach Astrid under Centraal Station in a few minutes.
Crossing to Linkeroever
Three ways over the Scheldt, two of them free.
- Sint-Anna ferry. Free, no ticket needed. Runs between Steenplein near Het Steen and Frederik van Eedenplein on Linkeroever. Every 15 minutes by day, every 30 minutes at night. Pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users. No mopeds. (slimnaarantwerpen.be)
- Sint-Annatunnel. Free pedestrian and bike tunnel with wooden escalators, from Sint-Jansvliet to Frederik van Eedenplein. Escalator maintenance happens on Thursdays between 07:00 and 19:00.
- DeWaterbus. Steenplein to Sint-Anna costs 1 euro. The longer runs north to Lillo or south to Hemiksem cost 4 euro single and 6 euro return. Bikes travel free. (dewaterbus.be)
Trains
Antwerpen-Centraal and Antwerpen-Berchem both serve us. Centraal is 10 minutes away by tram or premetro. Book at belgiantrain.be.
From Centraal you reach plenty of other cities in Belgium and the Netherlands without changing trains.

Two hours by train puts you on the Belgian coast for a day at the sea.
Good to know
- Press the button to open tram and bus doors.
- Validate your ticket at every boarding and every transfer.
- Lock your bike frame to something fixed. Bike theft is common here.
